My 5 Favorites: January 2016 Edition

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

I love a clean slate. A new opportunity. An "easy" way to put everything behind you.

I have witnessed a lot of negative talk about resolutions out there. Like, whoa. Most were saying they don't keep their resolutions or don't believe in them. I get it. This is one of the main differences between the 4 Habit Tendencies that Gretchen Rubin talks about in her book, Better than Before. But what I don't get? Not learning about yourself and WHY you did not keep those resolutions. But I digress.

Here are some of my favorites for January 2016. I know my closest friends are going to laugh at this list, especially number 3.

1. FOR ALL MY FITNESS ENTHUSIASTS: Qalo Rings

This was a Christmas gift I got my husband and I. I'm really digging them! After losing the diamond in my wedding ring after only being married a month (I still can't talk about it), I became VERY paranoid about my rings. The priest reminded us that the ring is a symbol to the outside world that you are taken care of, accounted for, and loved by someone. Being a wife is how I identify myself and wearing my ring to portray this is important to me.

But every time I would go to the gym, I would cringe when I would hear my ring hit the metal of the barbells or twist around and pinch me. (I know #firstworldproblems.) I would get nervous when I cooked, or washed my hands, or slept. I even bought a fake CZ ring on Amazon to try and calm these nerves. My husband would also complain of his ring being scratched in the gym or stuck on his hand if they swelled.

In the Paleo/Crossfit community, several folks have posted pics of Qalo rings (Quality, Athletics, Love, Outdoors) which sparked my interest...and given that they are reasonably priced, I figured why not!

As pictured, my hubby got the camo version since he has become quite the hunter this year and I got the Love Collection (pink and purple). Purple was the color of our wedding and I thought the pink looked pretty in the photos I saw. I'm really happy with them, so if you share any of my fears about your beautiful wedding or engagement rings, give these rings a try!

I decided to try out the oil cleansing method this past month using the Fat Face Skin Care product. It probably wasn't a great month to judge, given my parasite cleanse and Christmas cookies errrrywhere, but my skin has been feeling better and is not dry like it can be in the Winter. I'm also super excited because my good friend just made me a oil cleansing product for Christmas...and I'm almost finished with this product. Don't you love perfect timing? :)

So I opened this present on the 26th, and I think I have had this robe off of my body for a total of 12 hours since. My podcast co-hosts definitely know what I'm saying! This is on a MASSIVE sale so I suggest you run, not walk, to the nearest Soma and pick one up (or click on the link above and save yourself the trouble)!

I am quite shocked it took us so long to get a cast iron skillet, but as I mentioned in an Instagram post this week, I'm obsessed! We have 2 sizes, one with the grill pan, and everything I have made in it has been delicious. I'm sold!

WOW, these all natural dressings are seriously the tastiest. As my 21-Day Sugar Detox group is discovering, it is SO difficult to find condiments that have natural ingreidents and/or no-added sugar. I tried ordering directly from the company and they did not ship to our Pittsburgh address, so I found this Whole30 pack on Amazon and decided to give it a try...I love the variety! Now I'm on a mission to figure out how to get more.

I am excited for 2016 and everything I have in store for YOU....stay tuned!

xo, kate
